Defiant

USS DEFIANT

Defiant (dih-fayh-uh nt):
adjective
  1. characterized by defiance; boldly resistant or challenging: a defiant attitude.
Origin: 1830–40; < French défiant, Old French, present participle of defier to defy; see -ant

I have been told that I have been really defiant recently.  I was told by people that I have a tendency to defy or challenge almost anything.  Some would get frustrated because by it and others would get confused.  On the flip side, I was told that a positive part of it is that, along with my stubbornness, it helped me fight and defeat cancer.  I guess it carried on from there.
After I learned about that I wondered, am I truly defiant as in being difficult, daring, or a bold resistance to authority or opposing force (Definition of Defiance)?  I don't know, maybe.  I know my body is pretty stubborn to let go because it fights almost every ailment that come before it.   I am also defiant in a way of opposing my neuropathy and move as much as I can, almost acting like it is not even there.

I don't know.  Maybe I am in some way, I do have a tendency to challenge and defy, but only when necessary, in my view.   I guess though I am not difficult enough to lose much relationships except for maybe one, but I don't think defiance had anything to do with that one.
Anyway, I am going to have to move on and observe my own behavior.  Maybe I will gain a better understanding about myself.

#LoveIsLove

I am still trying hard to wrap my head around what happened at the Pulse Club in Orlando, FL.   I know we are hearing from news reports, witnesses, the victims and the investigation itself, but I fear we will never learn the true reason on why this has happened and we will continue with the Gun Control/Radical Islam Debate.

Well I mainly want to show some of the awesome photos and videos I have came across.  I hope they impress you, too.

Should Washington D.C. Be A State?

What are your thoughts on this?

Hidden Brain - Encore of Episode 13 - Terrorism

I usually don't post podcasts that I listen to here, but I felt this one was pretty important.  Please try to listen to this with an open and objective mind.

Synopsis: In the wake of the mass shooting in Orlando, we explore how groups such as the Islamic State explicitly try to capitalize on the grievances and individual frustrations of potential "recruits."

In Fear

In fear.  Hmm.

BTW, the whole it is time for a 3rd party thing is a vicious cycle.  I am never opposed to a third, fourth or whatever additional party, but understand that is one or both of the major party systems were to fall, we will resort back to a two party system.

I know that sounds pessimistic, but history has already shown this.

If I truly went with my gut, I wouldn't vote at all.  I guess I am voting out of obligation or guilt.  Shame me.

Clinton, Johnson, Stein or Trump.  Just not fully behind any of them.   I will continue to listen and observe and make my decision in October (hopefully).

It is funny though how the folks of the non-establishment parties are saying the system is broken.  Their not wrong, but.  It is funny.

Podcast Discoveries

So I have stumbled into 6 new podcasts that I found very fascinating.  5 of them are from the famous NPR.  I encourage all to check them out.  I listen to them on Stitcher Radio, but you should be able to get them on almost every place that plays podcasts including iTunes and the NPR 1 App.

Here are the shows (in order of discovery) and their descriptions:

Invisibilia (Latin for invisible things) is about the invisible forces that control human behavior – ideas, beliefs, assumptions and emotions. Co-hosted by Lulu Miller, Hanna Rosin and Alix Spiegel, Invisibilia interweaves narrative storytelling with scientific research that will ultimately make you see your own life differently.

From WHYY and NPR, Fresh Air is one of public radio's most popular programs. Hosted by Terry Gross, the podcast features in depth conversations with guests from all different industries and backgrounds. This Peabody Award-winning podcast is available on demand six days a week.

The Hidden Brain helps curious people understand the world – and themselves. Using science and storytelling, Hidden Brain's host Shankar Vedantam reveals the unconscious patterns that drive human behavior, the biases that shape our choices, and the triggers that direct the course of our relationships.

Ever find yourself in a conversation about race and identity where you just get...stuck? Code Switch can help. We're all journalists of color, and this isn't just the work we do. It's the lives we lead. Sometimes, we'll make you laugh. Other times, you'll get uncomfortable. But we'll always be unflinchingly honest and empathetic. Come mix it up with us.

Go on an adventure into unexpected corners of the health and science world each week with award-winning host Maiken Scott. The Pulse will take you behind the doors of operating rooms, into the lab with some of the world’s foremost scientists, and back in time to explore life-changing innovations. The Pulse delivers stories in ways that matter to you, and answers questions you never knew you had. Created by WHYY in Philadelphia, the NPR member station that brought you Fresh Air with Terry Gross.

Criminal is a podcast about crime. Not so much the "if it bleeds, it leads," kind of crime. Something a little more complex. Stories of people who've done wrong, been wronged, and/or gotten caught somewhere in the middle. Proud member of Radiotopia from PRX.

After The Puerto Rico Primary

Puerto Rico happened and it looks like Clinton is pretty much in arms reach of the nomination clinch.   If she is able to pull out a California win (or maybe even not) she will clinch.

As for the Republicans, oh who cares anymore.

Talk to you again after California.

Mommy And Me

2 years ago, weeks after the devastating loss of my predecessor, Bella, momma met this me on a whim.

Life has never been the same after Bella, but it's never been the same since getting me either!  I am their little heart mender.  And I take the job very seriously.

"Daddy not feeling good?  I'll stay here right at his knee."  ❤️💕❤️
