IR: Knee Job

So I haven't updated you homies on my knee condition so here it goes. I am currently going through physical therapy and it is getting better through each session. The therapists are pretty nice and cool, but they make sure you do all the exercises need to be done. The worst part of the sessions is when they physically work on your knee. Digging down trying to loosen the muscle and breaking up the scar tissue among other things.

I have to go through 10 sessions and the I have an appointment with my knee surgeon. Hopefully I will get a clean bill of health.

Wish me luck.

IR: Dr. Jekyll.......I don't know......

So we return to the doctor's off for my post op appointment and man was this guy very different from before. He was in a very good mood and was very informative. We told him that we are not too concerned with workers comp possibly covering the torn ACL surgery because we would just work on getting it covered under our own insurance, which we let him know that he was not on. He then stated that he was on it and almost immediately left the room to look up online to confirm he was on it and he was. Even gave us a copy of the page from the insurance site.

It was also so odd that he even stood/sat next to me while talking to me. Before he seemed very distant. Jenny and I just found him just very weird or he was just happy that Friday was here. I don't know.

Either way the surgery was confirmed to have gone well. He showed us some pictures of my knee with the loose cartilage and the torn ligament (COMING SOON). He and the radiologist feels that the torn ACL is an old and sports related injury and they strongly believes that workers comp will not cover it, but he also feels that I may be able to return to work in full force without the ACL, but we shall see after 2 months of recovery from this past surgery.

I have 2 weeks of PT coming up so continue to wish me luck. I hope to return to work soon.

At least I'm off the crutches now!!!!!

IR: Aftershock

So my surgery finally happened and it seems like it went well. My first night home though was kind of rough as I was going through nausea and dizzy spells. I was handling the pain better than that.

The doc is still saying that I may have a torn ligament, which will require a different surgery. He says that this injury is pre-existing because doesn't believe it could have happened with me just walking and making a slight turn. So, he says that workers comp will not go for it, meaning they won't cover it. He wasn't very nice to us when stating this. We believe he has some major resentment towards worker comp patients.

I have my Post Op appointment tomorrow with him and all we basically need to know is what else is really wrong and what steps I need to take to get things right.

My experience at the hospital was great, but my surgeon's attitude was terrible. We shall see what else we need to do and move on.

Fall Review 2007

So I have picked up a couple new favorite shows this fall, but I'm not sure if I will keep them all.

Some definite keepers are:
Michelle Ryan plays Jaime Sommers, a young woman who is thrown into a life of being a special agent of a private security firm while trying to take care of her troubled sister, Becca (Lucy Hale). She was monitored by whom she thought was her fiance and after a major accident created by Sarah Corvus (Katie Sackhoff, Starbuck of Battlestar Galactica), the original Bionic Woman, she was made into the new Bionic Woman.

I love this show. I was not sure at first because remakes of shows usually doesn't go well, but this one along with Battlestar Galactica is going very well. I definitely recommend anyone check it out. Go to nbc.com to see full episodes.

Another show I like is:
Charlie Crews (Damian Lewis) is a cop who became an convict of 20 years is cleared due to a mishap in the trial. As a settlement for wrongful imprisonment the city gives him several million dollars back and per Crews' request, returned to the force. He is an exceptional detective and a keen eye for detail, but also hold a strong eccentric side. He hires Ted Earley (Adam Arkin), who was also in prison for embezzlement/money laundering, to manage his finances. Go figure. While working on the various cases from his precinct he is secretly working on his own case to figure out what happened with the bank robbery that cause him to go to prison.

Charlie Crews reminds me of Detective Goren of Law And Order: Criminal Intent. Brilliant and Very Weird. This is a good show to at least check out. Episodes are also available on NBC.com.

From the makers of Men In Black, Barry Sonnenfield & Bryan Fuller brings a show about Ned (Lee Pace), humble pie maker, who has a very special, he can resurrect and dead person, but they can only be alive for one minute for if that minute passes someone else must die, usually someone in close proximity. Now the one who is resurrected and not put back to rest is still not safe for Ned cannot touch them again for the will die. Only two important things in Ned's life has to suffer this, his dog and his childhood friend, Chuck (Anna Friel), who he is falling in love with.
I love this show because of it's dark tone with dry and weird comedy. Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) and Lily Charles (Swoosie Kurtz) are my favorite characters on the show. The rest of the cast includes; Ellen Greene, Kristin Chenoweth, Field Cate, Sy Richardson, and Sammy Hanratty.

Definitely worth seeing.

IR: Pre Op

So I have my pre-operation appointment in which the doctor informs me that I might also have a torn anterior ligament, which will require a different surgery and about 6 months of physical therapy. He won't know for sure until he goes in and removes the torn cartilage. I hope nothing else is wrong and I can return to work very, very soon.

After the appointment, I had to go down to the labs and get some blood work & an EKG done. I first arrive at admitting (as instructed) and they send me next door to GI Labs, when I told them of the two test they direct me to Outpatient Registration, which is downstairs. Mind you I am on crutches.

I get down to Outpatient and they tell me that they only handle EKG the GI has to do the blood work. I told them that GI said that you guys can do both. They knew I didn't want to go up stairs and back down, so they managed to get both tests done at outpatient and I got out with in an hour.

Now I have to wait for the surgery, which I am kind of nervous for, but I will have Jenny there with me. I know it's just my knee and the procedure is only one hour long.

Hope with me that there are no more problems with my knee. I need to return to work.

IR: Da Results

So, finally got the results of the MRI and I have a torn cartilage in my left knee. I will need surgery to have it removed. There might be other issues, but we shall see after the surgery.

Now it is time to fully focus on the move. We are very excited and hope things go well.

Wish us luck.

IR: Magnetom

So last night I had my MRI test. If you are not familiar with this, it is a high intensity 3D scan mainly to pick up anything that a standard X-Ray or Cat scan could not.

I have to thank Jenny so much for taking me to the exam and treating me later to a Sonic Blast. Mmmmm Mmmm!

The machine was extremely loud, but I didn't have to deal with it for that had some very nice headphones and allowed me to have music paying during the procedure. I also lucked out in having only my knee scanned because I am not Claustrophobic, but I think a freak out might happen if I was in there head first. Hopefully we will never find out.

The procedure was a series of scans range from 5 to 9 minutes long totaling 45 minutes. Again the music and headphones really helped.

When it was all over my back and neck was killing me. My knee was still weak, but not as bad as the rest of my body for a short period of time. Hard, flat tables with one not so soft pillow really suck.

Now I have to wait until Monday to see what the results where and what the next step will be.

Hoping for the best.

IR: Follow Up Visit

So, as you know my injury happened again. I went to the office for my followup appointment and the doc was not very welcoming. It seemed like I was waisting his time in the visit. I don't know. Anyway, I have to have an MRI done on my knee to see what is going on and if I may need surgery. This will happen this upcoming Tuesday. The following Monday I have the follow up appointment with the ortho to discuss the results of the test.

I hope no surgery will be required and my recovery will be quick. I the meantime I am ordered to no work until the November 19th. Sucks!!!!!

Hope that all will be well.

Down & Out

So, My knee was doing better with me on restricted duty. It was doing well for 5 days until it decides to give out. Man I was pissed off. I just don't need this now, but I do need to take care of it.

So, I have a follow up appointment the doctor's tomorrow and now I think an MRI will have to happen. Hopefully we will see what is going on.

Pray that it is not too serious.

Injury Reserved

So I am on my first day or working on an NSO (the one project I was looking forward to) I injure myself. I badly twisted my knee and is on injury leave until the Orthopedic Doctor can clear me.

Kind of sucks because I hate sitting too still while so much in going on at work and home. Oh well.

I also have to work with Workers Compensation, which I hope won't give me too much trouble. We shall see.

Thursday I have my appointment with the knee doctor so an MRI can be done and they can truly see what is wrong with my knee. I hope it's is nothing serious and I can return to normal at work as soon as possible.

Right now I am on crutches and pain meds. Please help me hope for a speedy recovery.

Gated Community: Ramming Speed

So, I am home one weekend and my brother-in-law was out helping a friend on something causing him to come in late. So Naomi (Sis-in-law) stayed up waiting on him when she witnessed a crash in the front entrance of the complex.

A car stopped at the key panel at the main gate and was working to get the gate open when a Big Red Truck appears to it's left. It sits there for a bit then starts to pump up it's engine. Shortly after, it runs forward and rams the gate. It then backs up and rams the gate again causing the gate to break open and stay open.

What a bastard. Total disrespect of other peoples property.

Now they removed the damaged gates and I think they are either repairing them or replacing them. We shall see.

Middle Of Nowhere

Hey folks. I know I know it has been a looooooong time since I've blogged and I am sorry. Part of it is that I am traveling to Tyler, TX for a full store remodel. This project is 5 weeks long and we are now into our fourth week, thank God. We had the pleasure of having this project with a second team supporting us through the process and it really did help. We worked with three different teams because no one team can stay no more that 2 weeks.

The first team was from Austin, TX, Team Jeane. It was great to see them because it included a few friends I haven't seen in over a year. They work worked great with us and even with a few hiccups with the dumpster folks we when ahead of scope.

The next team to work with us was from Central DFW, TX, Team Talbot. This was the team I was applying for a promotion in two different position and was denied twice, but they still wanted me to join. The catch was that it was only a lateral move, which means no pay increase, no full promise of a promotion. Of course, I denied the offer. I'm happy with my current position on my current team. They only stayed with us for a week, which sucked and we still stayed ahead of scope.

The final team to join us is Team Maxwell from Houston, TX. I knew no one from this team. They are currently with is for the last two weeks and it seems like I may be a little rough, but it also seems like we won't fall behind because it can work their asses off. The down side is that it is a team full of too much talent and too many leaders. Lots of talking and telling each other what to do, but they do get the job done quickly so this project should end well.

Well that is the short form of that past 3.2 weeks. I will try to blog more. I promise.

Very Nice

Man Oh Man, this is a wonderful day. The temperature was very nice even though I spent most of it inside sleeping (I worked an overnight). A sweet 82 degrees with the morning bring a little chilly, but very nice.

A good day to remember the fallen of September 11, 2001.

Football Player or Track Star?

A new original TV series from the Sci Fi Channel. It stars Eric Johnson (Formerly of Smallville), who plays Flash Gordon & Gina Holden (Final Destination 3), who plays Dale Arden. This show starts out similar to the original TV series and the movie except instead of a famous quarterback, Flash in a big track star (cross country or marathon). They still end up in a small war with Emperor Ming (John Ralston) of Mongo.

Gordon's main goal is to find his father, who most people believes is dead, but he feel is still alive after learning about his life's work from one of his colleagues, Zarkov, played by Jody Racicot, (Final Destination 3 & Night At The Museum). During this adventure he also makes an ally of Baylin, played by Karen Cliche (Mutant X & MTV's Undressed). Baylin is a former assassin of Ming and knows her way around Mongo, so she serves as a great asset to Flash.

Like most Sci Fi original series, Flash Gordon is action packed with a quirky side of comedy. I think some folks will be a bit disappointed by it because it take a completely different turn, but it is good enough for me to continue checking out.

Peep it if you have the chance.

Look at my lists

Hey folks look to the side of this blog site and note that I have listed all of my blog sites. It is a lot huh? A few are based on category and others are just there.

Examples:

TiVo Luva: is my blog about shows that I watch. I will talk about shows I checked out & decided to keep or drop and shows I am currently watching & will comment on it from time to time.

Wilvie Reel: Is similar to TiVo Luva except it is about movies that I have seen in theaters or in a player (VHS, DVD or computer).

Operation Shrink: This is powered by a site called SparkPeople, where I use as a strong tool for loosing and maintaining weight. So this blog is basically on my adventures in attempting weight loss. You should check out SparkPeople if you are interested in weight loss.

In Othello's Words: This blog is just entries from my mobile phone (Othello) via text. These usually will be short and will only be about the bizarre things I encounter while I'm away from a computer for a long time and want to post them right away.

The other two on MySpace (My Domain) and Yahoo 360 (Rarely Used) are just there. I actually rarely use them, but check them out once in a while to see if anything new is blogged there.

Of course, this blog site (Sure As Butta) is used for almost my everyday experiences.

So there you go. My new list of my other blog links. Check them all out if you like. It's nice to have readers.

4 Stages To Victory

This is a great show brought to us by G4 (formerlly Tech TV). The basics to this is show is that 100 contestants head up to Mt Mydoriyama to compete on the Sasuke. An obstacle course split into 4 stages.

Stage 1 usually has the most obstacles and the most people eliminated. About an average of 85% on contestants fail before the second stage. Stage 2 has less obstacles, but is more difficult.

The first 2 stages usually has a time limit, but Stage 3 does not. This stage usually focuses on balance and upper body strength. Once they make it through hen they have the final stage where all they do is climb the massive tower which looms over all the other obstacle. It is a lot of fun to watch and a lot of the contestants are pretty interesting. Check it out on G4 at 5pm & 11pm (CST).

We Like You

So my night at work got so much sweeter when I got my annual review from my manager. It was probably the best review I have ever gotten on any job. They are extremely pleased with my work and they have future responsibilities in store for me. Of course I am more so looking for a promotion and more money, but I will work with what I get for now. We are working on getting a promotion by the way.

I was so happy and excited that I was singing and bobbing my head the rest of the night. We shall see how much of a raise HR will give me based on my review score.

Tha Schwartz

Just got home from a day at the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History. Our first stop was the Star Wars Exhibit that showed some great models of some of the buildings, vehicles, and people. One of the impressive things they had was an interactive activity where you would try to maintain one of three scenarios on the planet Tatooine; maintain the production of the moisture farm with Luke's Aunt and Uncle, conduct a secure business system at the spaceport Mos Eisley, or lead the Jawas in various business transactions out in the Dune Sea. I did the Spaceport scenario and didn't do very well, but it was fun & interesting.

We couldn't spend too much time there for we had to head to the planetarium, where we learned a bit more about outer space. I was fun, but was as short as the planetarium show we saw at Dallas Fair Park last year.

After that we headed over to the Cowgirl Museum, where we saw some nice stuff about cowgirls past and present. We saw a 10 minute movie about the history of Cowgirls, show about the everyday life of a cowgirl, and saw a few models and brief stories of famous cowgirls including Annie Oakley.

Over all the day was very nice. When my mother-in-law comes down later in the month maybe she and the girls will go back to the museum to check out the Cowgirls.

New Blog

I am one of many proud owners of a TiVo, and man do I love it. This blog is for me to give my opinions on TV shows. I am not an expert. Just an avid TV watcher. I will have different ratings and here the descriptions.

KEEPER: shows I intend on keep on watching.
BUBBLE: shows that I'm not sure to keep or drop, but will hold on until they fall to Keeper or Dropped.
DROPPED: shows that I just stopped watching because I lost interest (they are not necessarily bad, just not TiVo worthy).
OWNER: These are shows who fall into the elite and I intend on buying when they release on DVD.
UH...NO: Show that I don't even give a try because they see totally uninteresting.

I will blog as often as I can so keep in touch.

So I did my first volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity. The house was in Fort Worth and the main thing we did was landscaping. Boy it was hard work in some serious hot weather. It was fun though and I may go it again.

We met the new owner and she was very nice. She brought us some water, soda, and snacks. Very sweet woman. If you haven't done anything like this, you should try it at least once. Very nice.

I have two more volunteer programs coming up in September and October, if they do not cancel.

Falling Star

3 Stars
A very unusual film full of fantasy, adventure, action & comedy. Stardust brings on a interesting cast with Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Robert De Niro & Michelle Pfeiffer. Basically a young man searches a far of land to find a fallen star for the woman he loved and pretty much get more than he bargained for. I found this movie to be very entertaining with more comedy than I expected. De Niro was the best in the film.
I definitely recommend checking it out. Not sure if it is an owner. Thinking on it.
