Dads Pilot

This show stars Seth Green, Giovanni Ribisi and Martin Mull.  Pretty much a sitcom of two friends who run a video game business and is stuck with their overbearing and embarrassing dads. 

It looks like a fairly funny show and I will continue to watch it, but I feel it will not last a full season.  The joke timing seems a bit off and the storyline will not last long at all.

TV Review: Ironside Rebirth

Blair Underwood stars in the rebirth of Ironside, which origonally starred Raymond Burr (1967).  For those who don't know, Robert Ironside is a rough, experienced detective who is restricted to a wheelchair after a shooting accident on the job.  I worry about remakes like these because they usually do not survive long, but it could be possible with another rebirth that is one of my current favorites, Hawaii 5-0.  NBC needs another crime drama to work along side of Law & Order: SVU.  This show could do it.  Crossing fingers for this one.

Underwood is joined by Pablo Schreiber (The Wire, Weeds & Orange is the New Black), Spencer Grammer (As The World Turns & Greek) and Brent Sexton (Deadwood, Life & The Killing).

TV Review: NBC's Welcome to the Family

Welcome to the Family is a new NBC comedy that stars, Ricardo Chavira (Desperate Housewives), Justina Machado (Six Feet Under & Three Rivers), Mary McCormack (The West Wing & In Plain Sight) and Mike O'Malley (Yes, Dear & Glee).  Two newly high school graduates got a new surprise when they  discover that they are pregnant.  It throws the parents plan completely out the window, but they try to make it work.

This show look very funny and given that it stars actors from previous successful show, I see a promising future for it.  It has some serious shoes to fill.

Premieres Thursday, October 3rd.

Three Schools in One Year

So It has been a while since the last post.  December in fact.  I have moved on to the University of North Texas at Dallas to pursue my B.A. in Mathematics w/ a Secondary Teaching Certification.  The first semester there was a bit tough, but I managed to make it through with a 4.0.  My classes were Pre-Calculus and Teaching Diverse Classroom.  I could have bypassed Pre-Calculus with my taking of Trigonometry and AP-Calculus from high school, but it has been over 20 years and I seriously needed the refresher.

My instructor in the Diverse Teaching course was probably the most confrontational professor I have ever had.  I fortunately made it to her good side, but I did have a few good talks with her.  The Pre-Calculus class was probably the smallest I've been in and it had to be specially requested because some of us needed it to move forward in our degree programs.  By the end of the semester there was only 6 of us left.  My time at UNT-Dallas only lasted one semester because of an usual rule in one of their student services departments.  Oh well.

I then went back to Tarrant County College to take Calculus 1 & II during the summer and man was that a crazy idea.  I survived both classes, but feel that if I had taken it during regular semesters I would have done better.  The instructor in this class was a very difficult one as well who was very confrontational as well.  He was not hesitant to fuss at the class almost every day.

This fall I decided to transfer to the University of Texas at Arlington and can I say that the student services there so far are great (professionals and student workers).  They made it very easy to get everything set for the semester.  I was prepared to take the semester off in case I ran out of time, but all good. 

I really like my academic advisor and loved her office.  She did some serious geek decorations which included an entire bookshelf (one shelf actually) full of My Little Pony figures.  My favorite thing she had in the room was a photo that showed the many emotions of Spock (the Vulcan).  For this semester I will be taking Statistical Inference and Calculus III (yes, a third Calculus class).

I hope to do very well at this school and graduate quickly.

Clone Justice

So Star Wars: Clone Wars and Young Justice have had their season finales. With some good and bad time to go with then.

I have heard that the Clone Wars are done with Cartoon Network and will have one more season with what network, I don't know. Some say Disney's Cartoon Channel.

As for Young Justice, they have lost two people, not just by death, but they continue business as usual. Also some answers are made in who the true members of the light are. I believe Young Justice will continue and they should have a new HQ soon.

If you have not seen these finales yet, check them out online, if available. I am now checking out TMNT on nickelodeon and it really like it. Other animation shows I am checking out are Dragons, Riders of Berk, Soul Eater and of course Bleach on Toonami. I have already see most of this online in Japanese, but I like to see the English version as well. Just as good in my opinion. You geeks need to loosen up. Just entertainment.

Rugby or Basketball? FOOTBALL!

So I woke up from a nap, turned on the TV and a rugby game was on.  First time I have ever seen a televised version of this sport.  I tried for about 20 minutes to watch and understand it. I got more and more confused and yelled, "I don't get this sport!".  Maybe I will research it and get a better understanding later.  In the meantime, I turned the channel and stubbled on to the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Miami Heat basketball game. 

I will have to say that these are 2 teams I don't really care for.  Then again I don't care for the sport of basketball much anymore.  I know my brother will be like "What?!" if he reads this, but that is where I stand.  I feel that the sport has just lost it's appeal to me.  I feel it has gotten way too immature.  It's integrity is slow low in my opinion and I think this started during the high times of Iverson when he played for the Philadelphia 76ers.  I will check out a game or two here and there, like today, but I will not be like, "Oooo!  Have to see that game!"  That also applies to my favorite team, Milwaukee Bucks.  Overall, the sport of basketball has fallen to a low part of my list.  The only basketball events I will make sure to watch are the Saturday Night All-Star Events (3-Point Shootout, Slam Dunk Contest, etc.) and March Madness  (Conference Tournaments and the Big Dance).  Also, may I say that the All-Star games for the four of the major sports associations in the U.S. (NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL) are of the serious dumbness!  I am done with them.  Plus you fools need to stop calling yourselves world champions of anything because YOU DON'T PLAY AGAINST THE WORLD!

There are only 3 major sports/sporting events I will make sure to watch; Pro American Football (NFL), Pro Tennis (ATP & WTA) and the Olympics (Summer and Winter).  That is where I stand.

Sleep Deprivation

Oh man! It is too early to already in the day be drained.

New focus starting in February after the move is more sleep. I must work hard to make this a priority among other big priorities.

It will definitely be in the top three. I will achieve this.

Out of the Frying Pan - Movie Review

The Hobbit - 4.5 Stars

So I have now seen this movie twice. Actually never thought I would do that, but I am glad I did.

PeterJackson has done it again, folks. The Hobbit was an extremely enjoyable movie. I had been a very long while since I read the book so I barely remember any of it. It was well done for a prequel. I felt it ran strong from the beginning to the end.

There was a lot more comedy than LOTR and just about as much action. I does make you see the dwarves in a different light.

Martin Freeman (The Office and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) was great as Bilbo. Funny as always and never disappointing. It was also, of course, great to see Ian McKellan, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis.

I is definitely a must see in the theaters if you love Lord of the Rings.

Step One Complete

So I have done it! I have finished my final semester for my AA in Teaching Degree. I will officially walk on graduation day in May because they only do it once a year.

Pretty excited to make it this far and stoked I did so well. I finished with a 3.5 GPA! I also became a member of 2 honor societies: Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society for Education Students and Phi Theta Kappa, International Honor Society for 2-Year Colleges. Feels very good.

Now I am on to the University of North Texas at Dallas to pursue my BA in Mathematics with a Secondary Teaching Certification. I hope to do as well as I did at Tarrant County College.

Final Week of FFL Regular Season

Well we have reached the final week of the season. Overall my season has not gone to well. 5 leagues and only 3 of those teams at or slightly above .500. I have decided that after this season I will drop down to 2 maybe 3. Not saying which ones I'm dropping yet.

So for this last week, the Syndicate (6-6) will be taking the the 2nd place team. This is in league I value the most (BYOV). I'm still taking a big risk and continuing to start Kaepernick over Eli. Still shaky about this one, but reguardless of the outcome I will make the playoffs.

As for my other leagues, the league at work I will take on the team who is at the top of the league, but whom I destroyed week ago. How will I do in the second week? It all depends on Rodgers' performance. With Jennings back, it could be big. Oh and I'll make the playoffs because they voted to have everyone in the playoffs. WHAT? SMH! And this is a paid league first paid one I did. Regardless how I do this season, this league will be on the bubble. So I guess i did tell one league I may be leaving. Oh well. Going to do some heaving thinking this off season.

My other leagues are no es bueno. So I'm done with them. Alright. Off to the games.
