Me and my wife have decided that I should try out a class to see how well my processing is and see how I do in a class post-transplant.
The class we chose was Introduction to Sociology where I took at Tarrant County College (love that school BTW). The instructors were switched, but the professor we ended up with was not bad at all. She was tough though, in a sweet way. She showed tough love towards her students (as it should be). She did not tolerate any electronic devices active in the classroom unless she instructs us to being on for a class activity.
We had to do a total of 8 quizzes with multiple chapters in each. Those were tough, because it was totally reliant on the reading. The lectures went too long to be used in the quizzed before the due dates. We made do.
Next, we had a choice of doing two observational papers, where if you did both, you got extra credit for the second one, but they were scheduled and due at different times. You can do the first one and if you are not pleased with the grade on that one you could do the second one which is due much later. If you chose, to just do the second one, you are stuck with that grade and no chance for extra credit. I ended up just doing the second paper and did pretty well. So only lost out on extra credit. Won't do that again. I Ike extra credit. 😊
There were also class participation assignments we did , which could be effected if you simply miss class. You just had to be there and participate and you got points. Should be easy right? Kind of. I got lucky though because I missed two classes due to illness and I managed to only miss some lecture, not participation assignments.
Then lastly were the exams. One Midterm and One Final. The exams were long. Multiple Choice and True/False. 75 questions each. The good part is that they weren't cumulative. Meaning that the midterm was only on the first half of the semester and the final was only on the second half. Pretty nice huh? I ended up doing better than expected.
Overall I did great! Achieved an "A" and I proved that my processing is at least good enough for school.
The next test is taking a math or tech like class. This class is called Programming Fundamentals I. This class is on learning programming using the language of C++. I KNOW RIGHT!!!! I have probably lost my mind, especially since I am taking it this summer (8 weeks), but it really will be a good test of my processing skill and I really miss programming.
So there you go. Recent update in the college world. I will work to blog more often.
Until then........
