Interview

Sorry it has been a while since my last blog, but some good things are about to happen (hopefully). The biggest is the interview I am about to have either today or tomorrow for two different positions on a new project team. I scared and excited at the same time. I feel my team is excited for me, too. Who knows.

The positions I am applying for are Project Team Lead and Lead Functionality Technician. Both great position mostly involving leadership skill. For the PTL position I think I am up against 3 people. All three I know and two of them I currently work with. I might be the least qualified, but I know I am up for the challenge. As for the LFT position, I'm not sure if I am up against anyone. I'm just not sure. There are a few installers from the Home Theater and Car Audio departments, but I'm not sure what they are applying for. It would be sweet if I don't have any competition for this position, but we will see about that.

Wish me luck folks. Scary times are about to happen. Prey for me and Jenny.

Jen has to get the issue with the LCSW Board (I think it called that) fixed. I sure hope it works out. She has been working hard in the short time she has. Good luck baby. I love you.

Also check out a new series from
Rooster Teeth (makers of Red Vs Blue & Strangerhood) called 1-800-MAGIC.

Funny as usual.

Crisis Averted........

........for now.

Well it seems like both Angel (Intrepid) & Baron (Taurus) are still drivable for the time being. On Baron, it seems like the gas gauge & flow are working well. I guess Stephen's disconnecting and reconnecting the mass air flow sensor did the trick (at least seems that way).

As for Angel, it looked like the compressor on the air conditioning was the cause of the engine overheating. It still will blow cool air very well, but then it will have that negative effect. Kind of sucks, but the car will function for the time being. I will just deal with the sauna for another year or two. We will have to look into what other functions the compressor may have in the vehicle and how much it will cost to repair or replace the unit. We might have to look for a new car. We will see.

Either way, no need right now for major repairs. Both cars function well enough. We just always get hit with these financial bumps. Just can't get ahead.

Angel & Baron

Well out cars have somewhat new issues and it couldn't have happened at a better time. We both have to travel the next two weeks, but not at the same time.

Baron (our Taurus) was reported by Jen that he is sucking too much gas out of the car. We immediately turned to Stephen to figure out the issue and he came up with a couple of possibilities, but no resolution. So it came to me and observation while Jen takes Angel (our Intrepid) to her training in Denison, TX.

I drove it for a couple of days and the car seemed to use gas normally. Have way through the observation Stephen reset the computer in the car and I waited 40 miles of driving to see if a code (Check Engine Light) appears. It has been 83 miles, no codes, no check engine light, and it seems like the gas is running well. I decided to fill it up and continue observation. I think it might have been a fluke and we just panicked.

As for Angel, Jenny was on her way back from her training when she calls me reporting that the temperature light came on and the temp gauge was close to the red zone, not good. Here I am feeling better about my future travel to Sherman next week and we get new problems with the other car. So we (Stephen & I) checked the fluid levels and noticed that the oil was considerably low, which bugs me because Stephen just changed the oil (entering 5 new quarts). We think there might be a leak, but won't know for sure until the car cool down.

I need to figure out what to do for Sherman because I planned to take a car with me and I still intend to. We will see.

Man!!!! Cars, like humans, are such tricky and unpredictable things.

Gated Community: Pros & Cons

Well, it is up and running. They finally activated the gate on Thursday, June 7th and it was doing some funny things. Well just one of them were. I entered the gate at about 6am and the card works great then the first disturbing thing happened, someone piggybacked off of me. Someone sat in their car in the parking lot in front of the main office, waited for someone who had a key and followed them in. Kind of bugged me, but it serves the complex for not having a fool proof system.

The other weird thing that happened was that the main exit door was opening and closing at random. Thankfully that stopped. The next problem with the gate system is the procedure for visitors to enter the gate. There is a punch panel for them, but the instruction for the panel is very small. This sucks for the night because there is no light to read it. It is also bad because if anyone else wants to enter the complex and they have the key, they will have to wait for the poor visitor who has to figure out this system in order to get in.

And the last problem with the system is the speaker on the panel. It is very, very quiet. You can even hear the phone ring let alone the person on the other side. I don't know. There has to be a way to improve on this system so we shall see how this goes.

Pros:
  • The exits respond well to the ground sensors.
  • The key pads reads the cards well.
  • The directory display is well lit.

Cons:

  • People can piggyback.
  • Instructions on panel is hard/too small to read.
  • Speaker is too quiet.

My wife has many more issues with the gates, but I will leave it to her to express them in her own blog if she wishes.

Gated Community: News Flash

I was headed to take my sis-in-law to work where I stumbled on this letter on my door (which was also posted on everyone else's door):

Due to the excessive number of residents that have not come to the office to pick up their access cards, we are delaying the operation of the access gates until Thursday, June 6th. If you do not pick up an access card, you will be unable to enter the community. If you have any questions feel free to contact the office at ###-###-####. Thank you for your cooperation in getting the access gates up and running.

I found this funny for a couple of reasons:
  1. Excessive Number Of Residents: It has been almost a month since they issued the notice about the gates & the access cards and some people still have not responded? I say screw them. If they can't get off their lazy butts, sign this thing and get their cards then they deserve to be locked out. Dumbasses.
  2. Thursday, June 6th: Just think about it.

I don't know. Things just trip me out sometimes.

More to come.

Gated Community: The Activation

Well today is the day the gate is supposed to be fully active. Now the only questions I have are, when do they close the gates & leave them open, how long does it take for the gate to open, when will some dummy crash into it, and when we get a visitor & they dial us on the panel how does it show up on caller ID?

I guess we will find it out and I will let you know.

Some folks really hate gated communities, but I am pretty excited about this. Basically to see how it will work and how the area will be. I don't really see it as safety. More so as control.

Party Party

Happy Birthday Lindy & Heather

We went to a venue called America's Incredible Pizza Company in Euless, TX to celebrate the birthdays of Heather and Lindy. It was pretty fun. The place was pretty big with a mini bowling area, bumper cars, indoor go-karts, moonlight mini-golf, and some of your non-violent games.

The place has various rooms to eat in: Family Room, Diner, High School Gymnasium, & the Starlight Drive-In. We ate in the drive-in which plays a different film every week. That time was Viva Las Vegas (1964) starring Elvis Pressley & Ann-Margret. A pretty entertaining film that shows the weird crazy side of the '60s.

The only sucky part was when Heather and I wanted to play Dance Revolution and it was always being occupied by teenagers. Besides, she and Jen was pretty occupied with Skee-Ball.

Incredible Pizza is pretty nice to go to. I would rate it about equal with Dave & Busters in terms of gaming with the exception of the go-kart area. Check it out.

Again happy birthday Heather & Lindy and future happy birthday to Mikey later this month.

Lisa Home

Well Lisa is being sent home and she is still taking visitors. My wife and I did not go to see her because I wasn't feeling to hot. I'm surprise whe lot down and out yet. It's been a week now. I guess it effects everyone very differently or this other medication is working very well for her.

Oh well. If you are reading this John and Lisa please email me with updates on you. I will drop a line once in a while to check on you.
