February In Review

Well some stuff to comment on entertainment this month:

MOVIES:
Didn't see many movies this month. Actually on went to see one, Smoking Aces (3). This was an interesting flick that kind of followed the flow of Snatch or Layer Cake. Most people I know don't like that kind of movie, but I love it. The only problem I had with Aces was that it went a little too fast, yet it ended almost in a predictable way. It is worth seeing for some folks. The rest of you just wait for video.

TELEVISION:
Checked out the big awards shows this month and they were okay. In the Grammys, I was pleased to see the Dixie Chicks gain so many awards, but I wondered if the Academy gave them to them because they deserve them or if they were trying to stick it to the government. Oh well who cares. The performance with Justin Timberlake and winner of the contest was pretty good, but not worth the hype they gave it. It was also great to see Mary J. Blige rack up some awards, too. She's my fave.

As for the Oscars, Ellen did great. Even better than, Goldberg, Letterman, Stewart, and dare I say it, three time Crystal. Which would pretty much put her up there with Bob Hope. That's just my opinion. Lots of shockers this year including Pan's Labyrinth collecting 3 awards, Alan Arkin winning Best Supporting Actor for Little Miss Sunshine, and The Departed winning Best Picture. It was also great to see Scorsese finally win Best Director for The Departed.

One new sitcom this month, Rules Of Engagement (3.5). Starring Patrick Warburton, Oliver Hudson, & David Spade. Pretty much shows a man's love life in three stages: single, engaged, and married. It's pretty funny and shows promise so I would recommend some to check it out if it doesn't interrupt and favorites (Heroes).

Well that does it for February see you next month.

Piggy Back

Man, I tell you folks here in DFW are nut jobs. I was driving to the Frisco Best Buy via the North Dallas Tollway. I cross the toll plaza at the Gaylord exit and I notice that this woman behind me had jumped lanes and followed me through.

I look at her windshield and I could find a tolltag yet I noticed that the alarm light did not go off. I guess this woman was close enough to me that she made it through without the alarm being triggered. She piggybacked me. Bitch! I tell you man folks are crazy.

Good thing the day is so beautiful. Helped me for get about that until I drove home. You can imagine how that went.

OK

All is well. The funny noice on Angel was the Emergency Break slowly releasing. Since I don't use it often it get a little rusty so when they do engage they hold on for a long time.

I'm glad the car is fine for now. We will be glad when it is paid off.

This Sux

Stephen, my sister-in-law's fiance, did some break work on Angel (our Dodge Intrepid) and we were very greateful as he fix a few other things in our place since he moved in. but this morning I headed out to work w/ Angel and all of a sudden I start to hear a loud noice that is very hard to describe without sound. It was so disturbing I just had to return home. Was too worried about continuing to work. Good think I have personal time to use and a kick ass/understanding boss.

Hopefully Stephen can figure out the issue and fix it. In the meantime, I will be bumming ride from my co-workers. Fun times I guess.

Oh well, time to finish up on the laundry and do some housework. Then chill before Smokin' Aces tonight. I hope that movie is good.

Soooooo Nice. More Movies.

Man I'm glad I didn't wear a jacket today. It was so nice. Upper 60s. Work went very well and wasn't it usual shortness. I'll have to admit that might abilities on the job is getting better and better. I do a lot more without asking too many questions. In fact more of my co-workers ask me questions and I answer without hesitation. Feels good.

I hope more of my days continue to be that way.

I plan to do a movie review for the each month except we haven't been seeing many movies. Like this month we will be lucky if we will see one. I have been thinking of changing the movies to back to every week. Some folks can't make it every week. Some haven't even come for months, but I miss seeing movies. There has been over 10 in the past 2 months I wanted to see, but I will be lucky if I will see them on DVD.

I know I'm ranting, but it's true. I miss movies.

One flick I really wanted to see that came and went from theaters was Curse Of The Golden Flower starring Chow Yun-Fat (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) & Gong Li (Memoirs Of A Geisha). I know it was not going a huge it, but I wanted to see it.

Okay I'm going stop now. My day was great though.

Da NBA

Every year I check out the NBA All-Star Saturday Night, which features the 3-Point Shootout and Slam Dunk, contest kind of a tradition. This year wasn't very good. The Slam Dunk contest was boring and the Shootout was disappointing. The only enjoyable part of the night was the race between Charles Barkley and Dick Bavetta (a very fit 67 year old man). Barkley was very enteratining as always.

I never watch the All-Star Game itself because it is just as dull as the NFL Pro Bowl. Actually I'm kind of tired of all All-Star games. It's like the pros don't even try anymore.

I miss football already. Sometime I might check out the Arena Football. Sucks I don't have money to check out a Desperados game. I would even go to check out a minor league game like the Brahams (I think I spelled it right).

I NEED SPORTS.

It's just tough without other people to enjoy it with.

Okay, enough of that.

Long Time

So I have been getting complaints about not blogging enough. Let me explain myself. When I get home from work (no matter how short it is), I want to blog, but I either sleep, work on stuff or watch TV. I do love blogging, but I need to work on incorperating it into my day to day stuff.

A lot has happened since the Super Bowl so I guess I better update you folks.

I know I said this before, but I will blog more. I promise.

Congrats Colts

Wow!!!!! That was a great Superbowl. One of the best I have ever seen. If you don't know the Indianapolis Colts stomped the Chicago Bears 29 - 17. Man that was a spanking in the second half. Go Manning.

It good that Dungy got his championship because I feared they were going to fire him if they lost.

Boy my boss will not be happy. Oh well. I'm still under the weather, but better than yesterday. I'm sure I will return to work tomorrow. My wife on the other hand is starting to show symptoms. She did great taking care of me and now it's my turn.

Well I think my hunger pains are hitting now so I will try to eat something and see if I can hold it down. I should. I miss food.

Pray that my wife makes it through.

Sick Time

Man Oh Man. I don't know what the hell is up with me, but I feel like crap. I was throwing up all night and I going to have to miss a Superbowl party that I just found out was also a surprise birthday party.

Yes, I am now 34 years old. It not too bad. Kind of looking forward to 35 and 40 now. Just to see how I am at that time. We will see.

I hope this passes soon. I really don't like being sick. I hate throwing up. I haven't had the flu since by early 20s. Yeah that long.

Well I'll just rest and hope for a great Super Bowl.
